Kids Say The Darndest Things

Every Sunday we make waffles from scratch, whipped cream from scratch, etc... This past Sunday we decided to add some cocoa powder to the whipped cream to turn it in to chocolate whipped cream.

The little monkey, who is 5 tried the chocolate whipped cream and made a face. She said that she didn't really like it. I told her that I thought that she actually did like it. Her response:

"Oh yeah! Well then why don't you open up my head, look inside my brain and tell me if I really like it?!?!?!"

The older monkey was at her friends house a couple of week ago for breakfast and got super excited when her mom brought out frozen waffles. She said that she only gets home made ones at home and was SUPER excited to GET TO eat the frozen ones, like her friend. She has also been begging me to make hamburger helper (sigh).

I am depriving my children of processed food, lol!

Branding is Everything

Yesterday we were in the car with the big monkey, picking up the little monkey.

Husband: Monkey, do you want to come get coffee with us and you can have hot chocolate?
Monkey: Sure. Where's the Starbucks?
Me: No, we're getting coffee at the gas station.
Monkey: Ooh, AM/PM? That means I can get candy!
Me to husband: This is your fault, snicker, snicker, lol!

Sigh! At least she knows where to go if shes ever in need of a coffee or sugar fix!

Lucky

According to my big monkey:

Boys are lucky because they can't have babies
Girls are lucky because it doesn't hurt when they get hit "down there"

She has repeated this numerous times over the past week which makes me wonder what it is that she talks to her friends about during school. Also, how does a conversation like that get started?

Boys Learn Young

Overheard today:

Little Monkey: Can I have a potato chip?
Little Boy she's been friends with since birth: No!
Little Boy's Mom: Give her one!
Little Boy she's been friends with since birth: No - she's not my girl friend any more!

Both the other mom and I were trying SO HARD not to crack up!

I guess boys learn at a young age that you don't give girls anything unless you are dating them or want to date them!

Kids Say The Darndest Things

This weekend:

The monkeys were swimming and the big one took an awkward jump in to the pool. SHE comes up through the water and yells, "Ow! My nuts!"

The little monkey was talking to the neighbors about their dog. We were saying how the dog was silly, just like her. She says, "I'm not silly. I'm crazy"

We were driving in the car and the older monkey asked me if we were rich. I asked her if she knew what rich was? She said, "It's when you have a lot of money and have a big house". Obviously we are not rich. I asked her if she knew anyone who was rich? She said, "Yes, Riyad. He says they have a big house". I'm sure his mom (a close friend of mine) will be happy to hear that they are suddenly rich :)
