Meme and Award

The fabulous and extraordinary Quirkyloon picked me (I feel so popular) for the Premier Meme Award.

Before I can display the award, I must share with you seven personality traits and then pay it forward to seven others.

I am not as inventive as Quirky, who decided to list 7 reason Paris Hilton should be her new BFF, but I'll try :)

Seven Personality Traits (that I realized I have by watching my monkeys behavior and wondering where the heck they got those traits?!?!?!):

  1. The big monkey calls me today and says, "Mom. You said Stacee would pick me up at 10am. It's 10:03 and I'm still at home. Where is she?" I am a big stickler on time - I don't always have to be on time but if someone tells me they're going to meet me at a particular time, I will be pissed if they are two minutes late :)

  2. The little monkey asked me why I thought I knew more than her just because I'm the mom and she's the kid. Mind you, THE LITTLE MONKEY JUST TURNED 5! I don't care how old you are - respect can be easily lost if you are not a good person. Also, age is not a sign of intelligence.

  3. We have a pool, a trampoline, tons of games, a Play Station, etc... The monkeys are constantly asking me "where are we going next?" I can never sit still and do nothing (unless it's playing effing addicting Bouncing Balls on Facebook).

  4. The monkey's say hi to everyone - including the creepy people in the cars next to us. I am a very friendly and outgoing person and can find someone to talk to in any room.

  5. The big monkey is constantly looking for affirmation that what she's doing is right. Me too.

  6. The little monkey is not afraid of ANYTHING and jumps in with both feet. I spent 2 months in Israel (without any family) when I was 17 and back-packed by myself through Europe after graduating from college.

  7. Both monkeys have memories like elephants. The will remind us of everything we've told them we'd do, even in passing, that we ended up not being able to do. To this day, I still remind my parents about the time they took my sister to Disneyland without me (I was 5!).

I may as well give up now because I am FUBAR'd!!

The Sisterhood Award

Lucy, from Lucys Life in Suburb World, gave me a great award. The Sisterhood Award is all about being sassy (I just love saying that word!). Bold, honest, colorful, beautiful and a compassionate person with a true heart for her fellow human being. With an upbeat attitude and always showing her gratitude for life.

I am not always upbeat or beautiful, but I am honest (sometimes to my detriment).

Lucy is so much fun to read. She always has interesting commentary on people at her work and about the her daughters' basketball team. She's really trying to raise her family right!

I find that all the blogs I follow are amazing and embody ALL of these traits.

Since I don't have a number of people I must tag with this award, I won't tag any. I will tag all ;) So please, take this award. You deserve it!!!

Beautiful Friendship Award

Quirkyloon, whose blog I never miss, gave me this AWESOME friendship award. It's so pretty :) She even called me beautiful - and I didn't have to pay her!

The "rules" for this award are quite painless.

Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who can choose eight more and include this text into the body of their award.

I love all the blogs I follow, but I guess I should play nice and choose 8 (since Quirky already choose Lee, and since Lee is aways so swamped she doesn't post these, I won't include her):

Caffeine Court - She's a new find of mine but I think she's great. And she recaps my guilty pleasure shows, like The Real Housewives of OC and NY!

Secret Life of Tova Darling - She is the creator of Totally Awkward Tuesday, which I LOVE!

Bern This - She has absolutely amazing stories that are written so well. I am jealous!

I Need A Martini Mom - She is my BLOGGING IDOL!

The Norwidians - Her kids are TOTALLY cute and are great dancers ;)

Under The Influence - Jo has great posts and GREAT HAIR!

The Kids Did What - Her NOT ME MONDAYS drawings are so vivid, she must spend hours on them ;)

LA MOM - I look forward to her stories about Paris on a regular basis!

Great award. Thanks again Quirky! I really do consider everyone I follow, and who follow me, good friends :)

Awards make me feel warm and fuzzy

In the last week or so I have been give awards by 3 amazing bloggers! I am flabbergasted and so happy :)

Opus #6, at MAInfo, left me the Butterfly Award (for the coolest blog I ever know)! So did JulieChats, at JulieChats. Opus #6 is one of the first bloggers to follow me (in fact, the first) and I absolutely love the intelligence with which she writes (if that makes sense). Julie is a new bloggy friend. I love her recent photo of her son as an Obamicon!

The rules for the award are:
1. Put the award up on your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who awarded it to you.
3. Nominate at least seven other blogs.
4. Add links to these blogs on your blog.
5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.

LA Mom, at LA Mom Tales of an American Mom Living in Paris, France, gave me the Honest Scrap Award. LA Mom just cracks my shit up talking about her nanny woes! I must list 10 things about myself and then pass the award on to seven other bloggers.

10 Things About Myself:

  1. I LOVE TV - I even have a 52 inch in the bedroom!
  2. I usually TIVO 2 prime time shows at once (and wish I could TIVO a 3rd).
  3. I wish I yelled at my monkey's less.
  4. I am obsessed with Zumba (I know - this one is a shocker)!
  5. I don't always take a shower after I workout - sometimes I wait until the next morning.
  6. I could eat Chinese food or sushi 7 days a week (but I don't).
  7. I am 5'2" but drive a big-ass SUV.
  8. I love to cook (I know - this one is a shocker too).
  9. I am still giddy when I see a famous person (even though I've lived in LA for almost 10 years).
  10. You guys are probably sick of hearing about me.

For once I am not tagging other bloggers because 1) I love and appreciate all of you and 2) sometimes it's hard to respond to bloggy love quickly.

So, please take one or both awards! Anyone who actually reads me deserves it :)

Can you lend me an ear?

Well, I wasn't really lent an ear, I was given one :) (boy do I wish there were emoticons I could use with blogger).

One of my favorite bloggers, Janna, at Janana Bee, gave me Van Gogh's ear award.

It was so nice of her. And Van Gogh is one of my favorite impressionists. I have no idea who to give it to. Every single person who reads my blog is deserving of this award. So, please, take my ear :)

By the way, I went to the gym tonight and I can definitely tell vacation is over (at least at LAUSD). All the treadmills were taken at 9:15 at night! And so were mot of the elliptical machines! I guess people's New Years Resolutions are finally kicking in to high gear.

Honest Scrap

I got another award!!! I am ALWAYS shocked when someone likes what I write enough to honor me.

Adriana at From KS to PA bestowed me with the Honest Scrap Award. I am just starting to read her but I really like what I have read so far.

The rules: The honorees are to: A) first list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep! B) pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

10 Honest Things About My Self

  1. I smile to myself when I read something funny or heartwarming. I was doing that today while reading New Moon and my oldest monkey asked me while I was smiling. Yes, I'm a dork.
  2. I love to watch crap/teenage TV. The Hills, The City, One Tree Hill, The Girls Next Door. I even TIVO 2 shows at once so that I don't miss anything. Yes I'm a dork.
  3. I have been on The Today Show - for coupon clipping. Yes I'm a dork.
  4. I have this overwhelming need to have people like me. It bothers me when someone doesn't like me and I need to get to the bottom of why it is that they don't like me. Usually I them try to make them like me. But when I realize it's for a stupid reason, one that outs the person as an idiot, I get quickly over it and stop caring. Yes I'm a dork.
  5. I know I am not fat, but I am constantly struggling to loose those last 5 lbs. Yes I'm a dork.
  6. I love my monkeys more than anything but sometimes (more often than I care to admit) I want to lock myself in my room and not come out. Yes I'm a dork.
  7. I am really getting in to The Twillight Series. I'm on book 2 and really enjoy the characters. Yes I'm a dork.
  8. After 6 years of regular exercise, I still have to psyche myself up to go to the gym. Yes I'm a dork.
  9. One of my favorite movies is White Girls. I don't know why but it CRACKS me up. Yes I'm a dork.
  10. Like Adriana, I also have an estranged sibling. I was just thinking about her today as it is my niece's 18th Birthday. I was so closed to my niece and nephew for the first 10 years of their lives. And now, I can't even call them as it is against my sisters wishes. We have spoke once in the last 5 years - and that was one conversation about my father's sudden blindness. Yes I'm a dork (and sad and mad).

Anyways....
