Crazy woman

I was at home with 4 1st graders - what was I thinking??

They were actually OK, for the most part, but jeez! they can not agree on ANYTHING! From which movie to watch to who goes first in a bowling game, these kids will argue about everything!

I picked them all up at their respective houses and brought them home. I made pancakes for breakfast. They were actually surprised that I was making them from scratch (which is just as easy as from a mix, actually).

For lunch I decided to make risotto, asparagus and shrimp. Luckily, the kids are pretty easy. None had ever had risotto, but since I didn't put anything in it, including cheese, they tried it and ate it (it really just looks like creamy rice). They all loved the steamed asparagus (although some love the tips and some hate the tips) and went coo coo over the shrimp.

I took a picture with my camera phone.

In the afternoon my baby sitter took over and I ran errands and got my hair cut (more like I ran out of the house after dealing with the kids ;) ).

Now I'm about to wrap presents to put under the tree (we celebrate New Years). I'm tired!

It's funny - my girls friends that are single take the day off and relax. Moms get a day off and have to run about 50 errands. I'm going back to work tomorrow to relax :)

Holy shit Julia - i don't know if we can meet . Looking at that fab lunch you whipped up for FOUR first graders is really making me feel like a shitty mom. If your kids were over at my place, they would get like PB & J's and chips.

I'd rather eat over at your place! :P

I was quite surprised at the good reaction! I think I was like 28 before I liked asparagus!

Do moms ever get to really relax? It makes me worried for the whole profession!

Damn, that's a meal I MIGHT serve my gal pals. I'm coming to your house for a playdate!

Sounds like a fun day. Better you than me! I am surprised they were even willing to try the new foods although it looks delicious!

I am off this week. I go back to work Monday. Sigh.. I've been used to this not working thing for a week and a half..

I've been minding my 3.5y.o. neice the last few days, along with my own three kids - eeeek - I just groan when I see her dad's car now as I have an indication of what the day has in store for me! LOL.

first of all, what I would give to have my kid dive into a plate of food like that. Second, what I would give to have the ability an the wherewithal to cook a dish like that.

Lee - I will convert you yet :) Actually, I didn't grow up on sandwiches for lunches so it's not what I think to serve.

Annette - I would go nuts with multiple days of multiple kids.

Luckily most of kids' friends eat a variety of food.

Everyone is invited over for a meal!

This is the type of thing I would never volunteer to do.
