Friend 5:16am At Target in line. Mall on. Approx. 20 deep. Coming?
Me 5:17am You crazy. What time is it?
Friend 5:19am It's time for you to get your ass out of bed.
Me 5:19am OK.OK. I'll be there in 15.
This was my first Black Friday. It wasn't too bad. Of course, my friend had been in line since 4am, so I got to cheat a little bit and get there at 5:45am.
Who is more crazy? My friend for going that early, or me for agreeing to join her?!?!?!?!
So, I hit Target, Macy's, Toys R Us, Sports Authority, Bed Bath & Beyond (bought nothing), Talbot's (bought nothing) and Barnes and Nobles.
I got a 26 in. LCD for the little monkeys room, Play Doh, Princess Scooters, birthday gifts for a bunch of the monkeys friends, a GPS for my parents and an 11ft. Trampoline.
Thankfully, I drive a BIG ASS car :)
After I got home, and took a nap, I promised the monkeys I would take them to a movie.
BOLT was a GREAT movie. I absolutely loved it. The monkeys thought it was a bit long, but in the end they loved it too! I think the 4 year old might still be a little young to sit through a movie, but there is NO WAY the little monkey would let me take the big monkey somewhere without her. And if she found out afterwords, there would be HELL to pay!
Crazy woman I am, I am going out tonight to see a band (a friend from college is in a band).

Okay who is super woman NOW? I would NEVER do what you did to get all of that shopping handled. Impressive indeed and a little bit scary actually.. : - )

WOW. I've never really heard of Black Friday before this year but it seems like its a big bargain shopping day!? We have that down here in Australia on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas ... don't know if you have Boxing Day over that side of the world?). Regardless of that, that was very eager shopping - so well done!
Heck! Even I think I'm "nucking futs". Great deals though - happy it's once a year.
Annette - We have big sales the day after Christmas too. Sometimes I hit those - just not that early. However, we do not have boxing day.

I did the Black Friday thing last year.. My girlfriend and I went to Target at ^pm Thanksgiving night. We spent all night there along with about 3 other crazy groups. We got The Guitar Hero III double guitar pack. More people showed up throughout the night of course, but we were the only 3 groups that spent the whole night. It was fun, but I don't think I'll ever do it again.
Yesterday, that same girlfriend and I went to 1 store. We so weren't in the mood. She found a pair of slippers for herself, but that's about it.
It is a good day to find deals.. but you have to be looking for all of the expensive stuff to risk your life and make it worthwhile.
Brave soul you are dealing with those crowds. Hope you got some good deals.
allI have to say about getting up at 5 am to go stand in line is, "Hellz to the No".
I can't believe people would wait in that line to go and spend money. I don't like waiting in line for a roller coaster, so I definitely don't enjoy it shopping. Luckily, it wasn't too bad when I ventured out on Friday. I did get $75 back on a Blue Ray DVD player I bought two weeks before, so that was a nice way to start off.
Sounds like you got some great bargains! It makes me tired thinking you got up that early for shopping...probably because my baby still insists on eating twice a night. In the old days, I would have been right there with you!
Julie - I'm tired just thinking about it too.
I went to Best Buy yesterday to buy a DVD player and the nice manager tried to give me the $100 dollar one for $50 (the black Friday price) but the computer wouldn't let him :( He did say that Best Buy was nuts though, so I'm glad I didn't go.
