Dogs

So we've FINALLY talked the husband in to getting a dog this year (amazing what 3 females, 2 of them who look at him like he is the sun, the moon and the earth can do to change someones opinion).

I want a puggle. The little monkey wants a poodle and the big monkey just wants a small dog (they're both scared of big dogs). The husband doesn't want "a toy/rat" - he had a Chow growing up. I also DON'T want a baby that I have to train.

We need someone that is OK running in the backyard most of the time, except for a walk once or twice a day. It would probably sleep with one of the monkey's and definitely be babied.

Preferably, the dog would not shed very much, if at all.

I will happily take any and all recommendations, words of wisdom, etc...

I know you said you weren't crazy about "big" dogs but I have heard great things about the Golden retriever and poodle mixes. Several of our friends with kids have one and they are great family pets.

Remember that a BIG dog means BIG dog shit.
Just sayings...

A toy poodle. That is what I had growing up. THEY DO NOT SHED. I have two dogs, which shed. A medium size dog and a minny pin (small dog, short hair and it sheds)
Anyways, the toy poodle was soooo easy to train, no shedding and cuddly. I wish I could have talked my family into one but my husband insisted on a larger dog. The miniature pincher was a stray or we would not have it.

Good Luck and enjoy!!!!!

I try and go to the animal shelter and find a dog there that needs a home. There are plenty of mid-size breeds out there, and bitzas (bits of this and bits of that) have hybrid vigour!
