The monkeys' and I are in San Francisco for a quick trip to visit my parents and friends. Of course, the big monkey is sick on this trip (she has a bladder infection). I absolutely dread my parents seeing one of my monkeys sick!
My mother is acting like this is the biggest deal in the world! As if, somehow, I did not take good enough care of her grandchild, and so she got sick. She actually had the gall to tell me that this was serious, and that I need to keep an eye on it! Um, lady, I took her to the doctors office, got antibiotics for her, and am giving her cranberry juice to drink. DOES IT SOUND LIKE I'M NOT TREATING THIS SERIOUSLY?!?!??!
Tonight she asks the monkey if we make her home made, fresh cranberry juice at home?? "No, well then your mother must not love you as much as I do." OK - fine. She didn't really say the italicized part. But you know she was thinking it!
Of course, as much as I complain about my parents, there is the positive (even though it's not as much fun to blog about). I woke up to being asked what I wanted for breakfast. And in the afternoon, my mom and uncle took the monkeys' to the park for a couple of hours which enabled me to take a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day!
Sigh! Sometimes it's nice to be taken care of by mom and dad!
FYI - I absolutely LOVE Russian Complements, NOT! My uncle, upon not seeing me for a couple of months, takes one look at me and says your face has put on some weight! WTF?!?!?!?!?! In what world is that a complement, except in some backwards Russian mind?? Really?! Argh!!

Hee hee. My mother actually SAYS things like the italicized part. Most recently? My son lost his first tooth, and when we went to her house to show off the space in his mouth, she handed him a dollar and said "in case the tooth fairy forgets you." WTF? Buck up, buttercup. She's your mother.
I hear you on the Grandmother thing! Drives me up the wall.
GASP! Doesn't everyone make their own fresh cranberry juice? You ARE a horrible mother! ;) Why is it that we can't possibly love our children as much as our parents... oh that's right! They don't have to deal with them 24/7
Oh LOL! Sounds like you have to take the good with the bad on this visit!
And I hope she is feeling better soon. Those infections are the pits!
My sis and bro-in-law take good care of me when we go to visit - we're going next weekend :)
I love when I feel so good and someone says to me, "YOu look tired, are you OK? " drives me nuts.
Thanks everyone! It feels better (not sure why) to know that there are many opinionated moms out there. I just need to keep repeating "I will not turn in to my mother".
I love SF too! I used to live there in another life.
Your Russian uncle needs to get a bit more American and tell his niece how beautiful she is:)
