I really like to watch cooking shows. Recently, there are more and more cooking challenge shows.
Tonight, while watching Chopped, 2 out of the 3 competitors were sweating PROFUSELY from their faces. I am absolutely sure that the sweat ended up flavoring the food. Ewww!
I love to cook - and I understand how hot a kitchen can become. Really, super hot - and when you add the pressure of a contest to the mix, sweating ensues! But COME ON!!! Keep a sweat rag, some paper towels, a cold glass of water to cool you down. As good as the final food looks, the judges can not be thrilled eating sweat covered food.
Now I'm not naive enough to think that this doesn't happen in restaurants. I guess I just try to keep that thought out of my mind while eating. Too bad it comes rushing back when watching these shows.
The question becomes - why is it that professional food network chefs don't sweat from their faces as much (like Bobby Flay)? You think it's the dozens of takes that they do? You think that their PR folks are busy making sure that they aren't seen from a bad angle?

Ewww, thanks Julia (LOL). I never really thought about but you are so right, I never thought about hot kitchens and all that sweat (LOL), Oh, and yep those other shows probably do cuts and edits and a lot of wipes (ha! ha!)
