OK - WTF is wrong with people?? Seriously!!!

My 4 year old (almost 5) monkey takes a ballet class and a Broadway jazz class. In her ballet class, she is the youngest, but one of the best.

This morning, I dropped my little monkey off at preschool. This is a Russian, private preschool. As the monkey walks in to the school, the owner pulls me aside and tells me the following:

She feels like she needs to inform me that I am wasting my money on the dance classes the monkey is taking. That during rehearsals for their recital, she and the dance teacher that comes to the preschool, noticed that the monkey has no dance-ability. That the other kids are so much better than her. That the dance classes were doing nothing for her. That maybe she should get a new teacher. That maybe she should trying going to the dance teacher that comes to the preschool.

I was flabbergasted, to say the least. Thank G-d I was wearing sunglasses when we had this conversation. I mean, really, WTF????? Why would you feel the need to say this to me? Did I ask for your opinion???

This has annoyed me the entire day, and I'm not even sure why. It's not like I believe her, but still... No mom likes to be told that their kid sucks!

Only in a Russian preschool, can the people be so rude as to insult you under the guise of giving you advice! Thankfully, the monkey graduates from there in August.

I think that the critic must have brooded over what they perceived to be your child's performance before they approached you. Then I considered the setting and at the risk of further offending, consider this.

The Russian pre-eminence in chess can be traced to the average Russian's readiness to brood obsessively over anything, even the arrangement of some pieces of wood. Indeed, the Russians' predisposition for quiet reflection followed by sudden preventive action explains why they led the field for many years in both chess and axe murders.

A critc leaves no turn un-stoned. Consider the source, write it off to rude and thoughtless behavior and enjoy raising your children.

Wow, they determined this at the age of 4?
What happen to letting kids LEARN and HAVE FUN before determing STAR POWER. Personally, I would find a place that encourages children to DANCE, not looking for STARS. WHATEVER that is suppose to look like at age 4!!!

Pop over to my blog for your something special. You really need it.

Keep your monkey dancing, although, I know you will:)

WOW, just WOW! What an effing A-Hole! I would have given that owner a peice of my mind if they said something like that to me regarding my child. If your child loves it and is having fun, what the hell does it matter how good they are. She's just a child and no one should have said that to you! No exceptions.

WTF is right! I took dance classes for most of my childhood, and no, I was never going to join the Alvin Ailey dancers, I loved it and felt that it was a great experience. I didn't go to Russian schools so I can't comment either way on that, but seriously, you should stop giving your $$ to these people and give it to a school that will appreciate and encourage your daughter to do things because she LOVES them. WTF?!?

Give me a break! Wasn't it Shawn Johnson who said a gymnastics coach told her she wasn't any good at 6 yrs old?

LL - Totally rude and thoughtless. I agree.

Lucy - Thank you. She loves dance school, and there they encourage it. It's just at her pre-school that they are being asses!

Mommy in Pink - Thanks for the kind words.

Scandy - I would love the bish slap her. Maybe when the little oe graduates.

April - The school where I pay for dance classes are great, it's this place (tat isn't a dance school) that they are a-holes!

Julie - Great point.

For her to take you aside for that conversation is shockingly rude. Does she have children of her own? How could any mother say that to another mother. If not, perhaps she has no heart.

Good grief. Talk about stuck up. Hang in there, mama.

Oh, if that was me I would have punched her!!! First of all you have no idea what ability a child has at that age, they need the opportunity to try before you will ever know. Also She needs a teacher that will care for her and be supportive of her. Man she is not even my child and my blood is boiling!! That lady is evil!!!

Opus - She does have children of her own. She just feels the need to tell everyone what is "right".

Kelly - My mantra is "only 3 more months, only 3 more months"

Moms on the Go - I so wanted to beat her!!
